On-site training
De-escalation Training in Los Angeles
We come to your Los Angeles facility and train shelter, housing, case management, and security staff to lower the temperature of a tense situation before it becomes an incident.
On-site de-escalation for the people who run the building
Most tense moments at a shelter or housing site are resolved with words, distance, and a clear limit. De-escalation is that skill: calm communication and steady body language that give a person room to think, while staff stay in control of the situation.
Be Shepherd is a veteran-owned company based in Los Angeles. We do not ask you to send staff across town for a class. We come to your facility and train the team that works there, around their shifts, so managers and supervisors can stay on their own work.
Who we train
De-escalation works when the whole site uses the same approach. We train the people who meet clients first and the people who follow through afterward.
- Shelter staff
- Supportive housing staff
- Interim housing teams
- Case managers
- Security and safety staff
- Nonprofit building managers
- Front desk and residential staff
- Program leadership
What your team will work on
- Recognizing the early signs that a situation is escalating
- Verbal techniques that keep an exchange respectful and clear
- Setting a limit without turning a reminder into a conflict
- Keeping clients, staff, and bystanders safe during high-stress situations
- Working as a team so no one handles a tense moment alone
This work sits inside our Crisis Intervention Training and Engagement Training, and it connects to Facility Safety Training when a situation needs police, fire, or medical responders. A free evaluation shows which mix fits your site.
Live mentorship, during the shift
Training does not stop when the session ends. We mentor your staff live while they work, during their regular hours. That is the difference between hearing a technique and using it when someone is pacing at the desk or a conversation in a unit starts to turn.
English and Spanish
Our instructors speak English and Spanish. Hablamos español. Tell us which language your team works in, and we will deliver the training that way.
A free evaluation at your Los Angeles facility
Start there. We come to your building, look at how your team handles stressful situations, and show you where time and money are being lost. There is no charge for the evaluation, and no obligation to continue.
We are based in Los Angeles and serve Los Angeles County and the rest of Southern California.
Pricing built around your facility
Every facility is different, so we do not use a fixed price list. We build a custom proposal for each client, based on:
- The number of staff you want trained, and their roles
- How many sites or buildings you run
- Which trainings and services you choose
- How much live, on-the-job mentorship you want
- Your shifts and schedule
