Engagement Training for Security and Safety Staff

Most of what security staff do in a day is talk. Engagement training helps security and safety staff use that conversation well, so that a greeting, a rule reminder, or a request to move along builds cooperation instead of resistance.

Situations this prepares security and safety staff for

  • A client arrives after curfew and wants to get to their bed.
  • A visitor refuses a bag check at the entrance.
  • A resident who is talking to themselves is blocking a hallway.

What we focus on with security and safety staff

  • Greeting and directing people in a way that lowers tension
  • Giving a rule reminder that sounds like help, not a threat
  • Speaking calmly with someone who is confused, intoxicated, or frightened
